HOW TO START A CASE

Our Investigative Process

STEP 01

Initial Contact — Tell Us About Your Case

Contact us with a brief overview of your situation and what you would like us to investigate. At this stage, please do not send passwords, identity documents, confidential evidence, sensitive personal information, or other highly sensitive material. We will advise you on the appropriate way to provide evidence or sensitive information if it becomes necessary.

Telephone & Text: +1 (419) 703-3019

STEP 02

Initial Case Assessment

We assess the information you provide and consider the most appropriate investigative approach. We then provide our initial recommendations, investigative options and practical advice, including what information or evidence may be required and what investigative avenues may be available.

STEP 03

In-Depth Investigation

Once the scope, requirements, costs and necessary arrangements have been discussed and agreed upon, we proceed with the investigation. Depending on the case, this may involve private investigation, digital forensics, cyber investigation, OSINT, evidence analysis, research, verification or other specialist investigative methods appropriate to the matter. We focus on obtaining information lawfully, accurately and methodically while protecting relevant evidence.

STEP 04

Third-Party Specialists & Services

Some investigations may require specialist assistance, external resources or third-party services. Where additional paid third-party assistance is required, we will consult with you first and explain why it is recommended before proceeding.

Our Core Investigative Principles

Evidence Preservation • Accuracy • Confidentiality • Detailed Reporting

Evidence preservation, investigative accuracy and clear reporting—combined with strict confidentiality—are at the core of our investigative process. Our objective is to identify, verify, preserve and document relevant findings so that clients receive a clear and professional understanding of what the investigation has established.

Specialist Private Investigation, Digital Forensics & Cyber Investigation Services

Specialist Investigative Capability

Our work combines conventional private investigation with digital forensics, open-source intelligence, cyber investigation, evidence analysis, verification and specialist research. The correct combination depends on the question the client needs answered, the evidence that is lawfully available and the jurisdiction connected to the matter. We define scope before work begins so that collection remains relevant and proportionate.

Digital Forensics and Evidence Preservation

Digital evidence can change quickly. Devices, cloud accounts, logs, messages, documents, images and metadata may contain information that is important to a chronology or disputed event. Where forensic work is appropriate, preservation comes before unnecessary alteration. We consider provenance, integrity, timestamps, context and reporting so that technical artefacts can be explained clearly rather than presented as isolated data.

OSINT and Online Investigations

Open-source intelligence can help identify connections, verify claims, trace public-facing digital activity, research organisations, examine usernames and domains, preserve online material and develop investigative leads. Public availability does not remove the need for careful verification. We distinguish a lead from a supported finding and document material in context.

Cyber Investigations and Incident Response

Suspected compromise, phishing, account takeover, business email compromise, malicious activity and other cyber incidents can leave evidence across devices, accounts, email systems and logs. Our approach is to establish what happened, identify relevant indicators, preserve available evidence and define practical next steps. Authorised security testing is conducted only within an agreed scope.

Corporate, Fraud and Due-Diligence Investigations

Organisations may require investigations involving fraud, employee misconduct, conflicts of interest, supplier concerns, due diligence, asset questions, document verification or corporate intelligence. These matters can require a combination of public records, digital evidence, structured research, chronology development and corroboration.

Clear Reporting and Confidentiality

A useful investigation is not simply a collection of information. Findings should answer the agreed investigative questions, explain significant evidence, identify limitations and distinguish verified facts from analytical assessments. Confidentiality is integrated into intake, evidence handling, communications and reporting.

Lawful Scope and Authorisation

Investigative methods must be appropriate to the legal and factual circumstances. Access to private devices, accounts, communications or systems requires an appropriate lawful basis and, where applicable, authorisation. Where a requested method is not appropriate, alternative lawful investigative avenues can be considered.

International and Cross-Border Matters

International investigations can involve multiple jurisdictions, languages, data sources, service providers and evidential requirements. The location of a client does not necessarily determine the location of relevant evidence. We assess the countries, systems, people and records involved before defining an investigative plan and may recommend local or specialist third-party assistance where appropriate.

Preparing an Effective Case Enquiry

An initial enquiry should explain what happened, what needs to be established, the important dates, the relevant people or organisations and the information already available. Highly sensitive material should not be sent during first contact. If evidence may disappear, that urgency should be stated so preservation can be considered early.

Evidence-Led Methodology

Names, phone numbers, email addresses, usernames, photographs, documents, records and device artefacts can all provide leads, but a lead is not automatically a fact. Our methodology focuses on relevance, corroboration and context. Chronologies are used where appropriate to connect events and identify inconsistencies without overstating what the evidence can prove.
